What is an investment-grade color diamond?
An investment-grade color diamond must meet a strict set of criteria and is very rare. With color diamonds, the value increases according to the presence of color. The more saturated the color the greater the diamond’s rarity and, therefore, value. Regardless of intensity, different colors offer varying degrees of rarity. Be aware that brown and black diamonds do not fall within the range of fancy diamonds and are not investment-grade diamonds. EFAs are of the highest quality in color, cut clarity and carat weight.
Does size matter when buying a color diamond?
Yes and no. Size is only part of the pricing equation. When you are purchasing a Natural Fancy Color Diamond, you must consider the 4 C’s (color, cut, clarity and carat weight). While color diamonds are rare some are even rarer than others. However, each diamond must be considered based on its individual merits. For example, one diamond might be a higher clarity while another might have more saturated color.
Can I wear my investment?
Absolutely. The natural beauty of these diamonds is so captivating — they should be enjoyed. Our Wealth to Wear© division assists clients with setting their diamonds in beautiful custom designed jewelry. Speak with our team of professional designers to find a setting that is right for you.
How long should I hold on to the diamond for investment?
This should be considered a long-term investment and the longer one holds on to a Natural Fancy Color Diamond the more they can accrue in value. However, under certain market conditions, diamonds can appreciate very quickly. To this end, some investors may wish to upgrade their diamonds for something of higher value sooner than five years.
How do I sell my diamond?
